To ensure compliance to the Mastronardi Produce/SUNSET® food safety programs our greenhouses and warehouses are audited annually to Safe Quality Food standards.
The Safe Quality Food Standard (SQF) is based on proven principals by the National Advisory Committee on Microbiological Criteria for Foods, HACCP methodology, and Codex Alimentarious (ISO).
The SQF standard has three levels:
Level 1 - Food Safety Fundamentals (Prerequisites)
Level 2 - HACCP Certification (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points)
Level 3 - HACQP Certification (Hazard Analysis Critical Quality Points)
The SQF Standards under the Global Food Safety Initiative are recognized by over 85% of our North American Customers and have potential for regulatory recognition.
All Mastronardi Produce/SUNSET® manufacturing and distribution facilities are certified to SQF 2000 Level 3 - Comprehensive Food Safety and Quality Management System. This is the highest level that can be achieved under this standard. Our greenhouses are all certified to SQF 1000 Level 2 - Accredited HACCP Based Food Safety Plan. This ensures and demonstrates our commitment to delivering the safest, highest quality product to our customers.
